On the occasion of the International Scientific Conference "Living Landscape - The European Landscape Convention in research perspective", UNISCAPE organises a Master Class in Landscape Research, to discuss and deepen the major results of the debate in the Conference. The Master Class will be held at the European University Institute of Florence 21-23 October 2010.
The Master Class is addressed to PhD students, researchers and students interested in landscape and willing to discuss and deepen their knowledge by comparing it with other approaches. It will develop the following themes: landscape identification and typology, participation, perception, and effects of policy development on landscape. These topics will be analysed with reference to the European Landscape Convention and in particular to urban, rural and periurban landscapes.
Professor Mauro Agnoletti (University of Florence, Department of Environmental Science and Technology) is the scientific coordinator of the Master Class. The panel of invited lecturers offers a wide range of methodologies and experiences in the field of landscape research. It is composed by:
The programme includes a full day field excursion in the Chianti area. During the excursion different typologies of landscape will be analysed and assessed:
traditional rural landscape, periurban landscape, industrial landscape and urban landscape.
