UNISCAPE Online Lecture Series 2023 | Call for Papers

THE CALL
deadline for submissions extended 1st of February

We are now inviting submissions for the 2023 Lecture Series.
This year the theme is Landscape in Action : Applying the Landscape Principle
The 2023 WDM Series aims to explore the challenges and experiences of applying the landscape principle in various professional contexts and arenas.

The holistic sentiment and theoretical sophistication of the landscape paradigm, and in particular its implicit commitment to transversality, present real challenges for practitioners, decision-makers and citizen-participants. In this series, we want to interrogate and problematize the roll-out of the landscape paradigm as experienced by different disciplines and professions, and to examine its uneven penetration. What sorts of challenges does the Landscape Convention generate for your discipline/profession, and how are they being met?
Seminars that reflect on or explicitly critique the challenges and experiences of applying the landscape paradigm are welcome.

THE SERIES –  an overview

Now in its third year, the series will comprise eight live sessions, one per month February-June and September-November. The start time for the papers is 17:30 CET, and they should be 40 minutes in length, with an additional 15 minutes for questions and answers. Papers should be delivered in English, and Powerpoints may be subtitled in your language of choice. Sub-titling will be the sole responsibility of the speaker.

Speakers will be invited to:

  • recommend a short (10 minutes max), publically-available video to air as the audience arrives into the on-line salon
    AND
  • propose a respondent who will be available to attend the event and speak for 10 minutes before opening the floor to questions and answers

The deadline for submissions is midnight (CET) on Friday 6th January  extended to the 1st of February 2023. Submissions will be reviewed and selected by a panel of Board members of UNISCAPE, and contributors will be informed of the decisions of the panel and the programme calendar promptly.

The series will be hosted by UNISCAPE via Zoom, and open publically. Papers will be recorded and archived on the UNISCAPE website and, in due course, made available on general release.

To submit a proposal please use the attached form. We look forward to hearing from you.
